Media Versus Ministry

Once again the war is afoot. The media, bent on destroying the influence of conservative Christianity, has
laid an unrelenting assault on Christians as a whole and on the leaders in the Christian movement.

Much of these attacks are clearly bias and misrepresent the truth. They are desperately trying to undermine
the work of God. They are the Babylonians of our day.

In this atmosphere of attacks, some of our leaders have been making a huge strategical and spiritual mistake.
They think everything the media says is wrong and unjustified. They believe all these things are from the Devil
and that God will vindicate them. They may be DEAD WRONG.

As Biblical history has taught us, when God's people have gone so far astray that they will not repent of there
sin and return unto God, God has been known to use the ungodly to judge His people. Is it possible that some
of the attacks we are receiving we invited. Is it possible that God may be using some of the media to call
attention to our sins. Is it possible that those who hate us may actually be right in what they accuse us of.

The answer is YES. The media attacks us more over on our excessive lifestyles and questionable usage of
donated monies than any other area. They have over the years singled out major ministries and tried to expose
abuses. Although much of these attacks are overblown and malicious there is the VOICE of GOD in it.

God is trying to tell the church to repent. The church has fallen for the love of money. We are bound by the
very thing we claim to be free from: the spirit of the world.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. "If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in
him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the
Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God
abides forever."
1John 2:15

"Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever
therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God".
James 4:4

"But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown
men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after,
they have erred? from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God,
flee these things ; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness."
1 Timothy 6:9-11

Over the last number of years the church and especially the ministers have been getting free from a poverty
mentality that says Godliness equates to poverty. This lie from hell held many bound for generations. But as is
usual with mankind we are given to extremes. We have left the confines of poverty for excessive lavish lifestyles
and we claim it is the favor of God.

Money in and of itself is not evil, yet it is the most powerful corrupting force in the world today. Over 70% of
all those in jail in America today are in because of money related crimes. Wars are fought, lies are told, laws
are broken, marriages are destroyed, and ministries perverted all over money.

Even though the media is driven for money they also understand that money corrupts even good people. They
know how to spot the corrupting influence of money and love to expose it in those who claim to be free from
the corruption of the world. What they really are saying is, “ah ha, we knew it. You are just like us. Your God
has no real power to deliver”. And haven't we become just like the world.

Enter your average large American church and you'll be hard pressed to find any difference between them and
the world. Now the ministers have embraced the same spirit. We can do the ministry and enjoy all the pleasures
that the world offers.

Our arrogance and pride before heaven is a stench in the nostrils of God. We claim to be enlightened but were
deceived. We claim to be free but have fallen into a trap. We justify our lust by comparing ourselves with our
secular counter parts. We believe the lie that we are deserving of all these perks because we are mighty men
and women of God. We get among ourselves and share the lie to each other bolstering our deception even
further by bringing others along with us.

“Your anointed”, we say, “you deserve the finest hotel rooms, luxury meals, lavish cars, expensive jewelry,
extravagant vacations. God's servants deserve the very best we say”.

Where in the Bible do you find that!!!!

What example from biblical history leads us to this conclusion? Now please don't miss understand me. I believe
in the blessing and favor of God, but it is ALWAYS for a divine purpose. It is for the preaching of the gospel.
And we especially who preach the gospel must choose to live in such a way that our lifestyles don't bring
reproach on the name of God.

The ministry has now become a very profitable career for those who learn how to work it. This is history being
repeated over again. It also will end the same way. Those who have fallen for the traps of wealth and power will
become the enemies of God while claiming to be his messengers. They will also ultimately stand against the
prophets of righteousness and claim them to be extremist, alarmist, and deceived. But as history has shown us
there will be fresh prophetic voices that will rise and call the church to repentance.

The media has no love for the church or even a desire to see her repent. But some of the media is being used by
GOD to rebuke the church and we had better listen to voice of the Holy Spirit lest He hand us over for destruction
at the hands of our enemies.
