The word REPENTANCE has such varying meanings to so many people. To many, it is simply an extreme
doctrine of an out of date, old fashion religion. However, the Bible is clear on the call of God for people to
repent of their sins. If God is real and if the Bible is true, then we must understand this all important word....
REPENTANCE!!!!!

What does it MEAN!!!

The word Repent in the Bible means: To change one's mind. It literally speaks of changing one's mind and
attitudes towards something. In the case of the Bible, God's call to mankind is to REPENT of our (change
one's mind about) SIN.

What is Sin?

This is where it gets tricky for so many people. Everyone has an opinion as to what is and isn't Sin. However
it is much easier to understand than most people think. The essence of sin is the rejection of God's rightful
authority over ones life.

God is God. He has created all mankind and is supreme. The word God literally means “supreme being.” He,
being God, has an inherent right of authority. Sin is the willful rejection of that authority.

How does SIN impact me?

The Bible declares that “Jesus is the way, the truth, and the LIFE.” All life comes from God. He is the very
source of life. Without Him nothing could exist. Sin (the rejection of God's rightful authority) separates us from
God, and thus separates us from LIFE!!! That is why the Bible says “the wages of SIN is death.” Rejecting
God's authority separates us from Life and brings about death.

What's the solution?

God longs to have an intimate relationship with you. Sin, (rejecting His rightful authority) separates you from
that relationship. Think about it this way. When a child rejects the rightful authority of a parent the relationship
between the two is strained and if the rejection is deep enough, the relationship is BROKEN!!! The same is
true with our relationship with God. We have ALL rejected God's rightful authority over our lives and thus
BROKEN the relationship with God. This rejection released death into mankind and this death process had
to be reversed.

Because death entered into mankind “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Even though God
gave to us commands to live by, i.e. The Ten Commandments, we couldn't obey because death was at work
in us and we were unable to. Every parent knows you don't have to teach a child to disobey, it is a part of
their nature. All children even from an early age begin to reject authority: ( they say NO!!!).

God had to bring LIFE back into mankind in order to reverse the death process. This is why He sent His son
Jesus to die for us that we might live. Jesus paid the price for our disobedience. HE DIED, so that God could
then release LIFE back into mankind. Jesus didn't just come so we could be forgiven, He came that we might
LIVE!!!! He said, “I have come that you might have LIFE...”

Jesus paid the price and conquered DEATH when He rose from the grave. He now has defeated death for us
all so we can have LIFE FOREVER!!!!

There still is the one condition that God says must be fulfilled by us. We must REPENT. We must change our
minds about rejecting God's rightful authority over our lives. We MUST give back to God the right of total
authority. The Bible says if we “confess with our mouths the LORD Jesus and believe in our hearts that God
raised Him from the dead we shall be saved” SAVED from death

God says we must confess with our mouths the LORD Jesus. The word Lord means: “one that has right of
authority over another.” We Must confess that we give to Jesus the right of authority over our lives and believe
in His resurrection and that He defeated death. Then we shall be saved from DEATH ETERNALLY.

This is the message of repentance and of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Today God commands that all repent. He
commands that you give the right of authority of your life to Jesus Christ and then God will not only forgive you,
but will deliver you from DEATH and give to you LIFE!!!

Pray this prayer today. “Jesus, I give to you the right of authority over my life. I turn from my rejection of you
and I will follow and obey you from this day forward. Forgive me and change me. Give to me LIFE. In JESUS
name, AMEN!!!
